How to target research your ideas, before you invest in costly marketing.
One
way to do this effectively is through a survey. At some point every online
marketer will conduct a survey. This can be as simple as putting a comment
for feedback on your site or within your newsletter, asking viewers to
inform you of what they like or dislike.
Most customer service businesses use this routinely to find out how there sales and service employees are performing. And you will find out if you ever sign up for something free you will most likely need to fill out a short survey to receive the bonus. This is not only a way for businesses to have contact information from you, but a way for them to know who there service or product is targeted to. You may think you already know exactly who your target market is and that you know your customers needs like the back of your hand. And this may very well be true, but if you are to serve your customer as their needs change you need to make changes along with them with your marketing strategy. One easy way to get a handle on your customers and web site visitors is to conduct a survey.Conducting a survey can be a simple one time event or and ongoing marketing campaign. When most people see or hear that a business is conducting a survey, they shy away because their is no benefit to them. And lets be realistic, everything we do online takes time. If you are not giving your visitors and incentive to participate in the survey. You will get zero results. Getting something of value free or a discount on a future purchase are simple and effective ways you can persuade someone to participate in a survey. Even businesses that have a large client base will offer incentives for their customers in this form for good customer relations. The businesses that do not keep a record of their customer base are really missing the boat on this one, because it is much easier to keep an existing customer then gain one. So why not keep in touch with them on a regular basis, and next time you send out a coupon for a free service, use a survey strategy along with it. Either in the form of fill out this survey first and receive this free. Or suggest a short survey for them to fill out prior to receiving their freebie. My suggestion for conducting a survey is to make it simple. But do ask specific questions. Simply adding a feedback form on your site letting the visitor add their own comments will not get you the results you need. Target your questions, and keep the answers to a simple Yes or No.
If you are developing a survey online do not make if more then one page, especially if you are targeting new visitors. Conducting a survey can be fun and their are online resources for getting this done on a small scale. And if you develop your own site you can simply assign and email to the survey form and tally up the results. Keep in mind that most online services will do this for you on a limited amount of submissions. Here are
the online resources that I suggest you check out: Go on online and do your own search for information to help you with your survey planning. Look for articles in developing your survey to yield the best results. There is many places online that can give you advice in conducting a survey. Plan ahead and know exactly what it is you are wanting to accomplish with your survey. And realize that in every market things change. This is one simple way of keeping up with the changes. **************************************** Learn from
