Know your Niche Market like the back of your hand.
Do you know what pages are being read by your visitors, and exactly what they are thinking as they read through your sales pitch. Imagine for a moment, a piece of software that can login to your visitors mind, one that can tell exactly if your visitor is thinking "this is a bunch of hype, I'm not falling for this" This is exactly what you should be thinking right about now, about this suggestion. But humor me for a little while longer. I am about ready to do a site evaluation for a company, they are complaining about no sales. I am looking at their site and realize that they do need help with the sales pitch, and that things could be better. But before I begin to estimate what I feel should be their solution, I will want to evaluate their site stats. When I am discussing their site traffic stats, I get this blank look on their face. I guess they didn't realize that you could view a log of the traffic to your site. All good web hosting services offer this! And the really good hosting services will help you monitor your keyword phrases and I know of one in particular that will organize your paid advertising in search engines, know as PPC (pay per click) Say for
example, I am able to track a visitor coming from google, under the keyword
phrase of "web design consultant", here is what I can investigate: All this information is very important and should be evaluated before I begin my suggestions. If I have more people coming to my site under the keyword phrase "small business web consultant" verse "web design consultant" then I am going to want to spend more time optimizing this page and make a few more pages with similar keyword phrases to test with. It's good to know if my visitors are coming to me from Internet Explorer using windows xp. (I was surprised only two months ago the top platform was window's 98) I guess Mirosoft dropping 98 and 98SE from their support has made a difference... What connection my visitor has is very crucial to my design, Always remember the #1 rule of web page designing is to optimize for fast load. Now I am going to take this article a step further, how do you know if your sales page is working. Test, test and test until you get it right, then keep tracking your success, if their is a decline, start testing again. What I am about to explain to you is a simple script that you load to your web hosting service, that allows you to rotate your pages, for example you have two index pages, these pages alternate each time your page is served up. This way you can track which page is working the best to get the follow through. Site Build It launched a test campaign prior to increasing their services. This was done to determine which increase price was the most popular, and the way they handled this test was very impressive and when the customer decided to purchase they were pleasantly surprised that this was only a test and they were going to get the service for the old price, wouldn't that just tickle you pink to get something for less then you were willing to pay for it. As you can see testing your niche market even after your site is up and running is important to keep on the right track with your web sales. I personally am testing a software that will do the page rotation for you - all you do is load this with your website and create the pages you wish to rotate. I will be giving you a full evaluation in the next few months. I expect this will be a popular item, since you really don't want to waste any more time then necessary with stuff that does not work! Maybe someday
software will be designed to really plug into your visitors mind and
you will be able to tell if they are "thinking this is to good
to be true" Or better yet, if I could tell if the product I am
about to purchase on ebay is legit or a scam! **************************************** Learn from
