Sure things are much better then they were 5 years ago with marketing advice. But I am amazed at the graphic and design colleges turning out students that were not introduced to simple design strategies that help web sites get found on the net.

  You can view several tutorials on newbie subjects here including how to build a web page.
  Just join as a member which does not cost you anything and you will be directed to the tutorial page.
  
  
• Want help with html and building web pages, then go to these tutorial sites:

Stop and see what the Big Nose Bird site has to offer, about building a web page.
really that is the name and what a great tatic with a domain name off the wall and people will not forget it easy...

Boogie Jack's site, has some nice graphics you can use. Be sure to obey copywrite laws - if you don't have permission to use another sites graphic then don't!
